Arthur P. Barry III, SIOR with Coldwell Banker Commercial Eberhardt & Barry, Inc. of Macon, Georgia, brokered the sale of the former Columbus, GA Glover Foods Food Distribution facility. Glover Foods stored and shipped dry, refrigerated, and frozen products to restaurants, churches, hospitals, schools, prisons and other food service customers in the Southeastern United States.
At its peak, Glover Foods was shipping about 80 million dollar’s worth of food and chicken out of the Columbus facility with an on-site production employee base of 170 persons. The facility contained 75,360 square feet of cold storage/distribution on 6.4 acres of land. Glover Foods closed its operations in 2008. Following the sale of Glover Foods to US Foods, the property closed and was listed for sale in 2013.
The new owner, BD&K Foods, is a premier provider of fully cooked and seasoned southern style vegetables. BD&K Foods will employ 75 persons.
